BEET - UTILISE OR AVOID

Whether to feed or avoid beet is a controversial topic that illicit strong emotions from passionate equine people and industry. As anything, it is personal choice whether you feed it or not. We recommend to avoid feeding beet and any feed that has beet as an inclusion. Our article goes more in-depth as to the the pro's and con's, which will allow you to make an informed decision as to what is best or appropriate for your horse. LUCERNE - GOOD OR BAD?

In the last decade lucerne (aka Alfalfa) has got a bad rap here in NZ. However it is heavily utilised overseas in equine diets successfully. So why does it cause issues in NZ? There is a very small percentage of horses with a true allergy to lucerne. Many factors can play into whether you can feed lucerne successfully or not. We love lucerne and the use of it within a balanced diet, if feasible and possible.
